On march 31st we learnt how to separate the clean drinkable water from seawater like the murky, sandy stuff.
These were the steps that were took to make this procedure we used a conical flask,a mat thing I don’t know the name of it then we used a bunsen burner plus the rest of the other equipment lastly we got a beaker fulled with ice; a tube that connects the conical flask with the tube. We also used a test tube.
What I observed from this was at the beginning nothing really happened we just turned on the gas and let it heat up.After a while the bunsen burner started to bubble a lot and at the end of the lesson we did a competition who had the most clean water in their test tube.
The soluble and insoluble particles stayed in the bottom of the filter paper and then it would just keep it there.
What happened to the water and salt particles is that since the salt particles are harder then the water it got filter out mostly.
Why people got more water others is because some of them just started earlier and they used less water in their filter paper so it could quickly boil and it would be quicker.
